Spring break, n. - a fun time of relaxing in the beach town of San Juan del Sur, getting sunburnt (WITH sunscreen on), meeting fellow travelers, and which, like all vacations, had to end.
Monday we jumped back into our ministries here in Granada and it's been a great week. Remember how I said that those of us on my team who are working there are starting to take on more responsibility? This week at Corazon Contento, we organized a small Olympics! So here are some photos from Monday and Thursday.
We started out by having each kid make their own flag. (The boy on the right is Kevin, obviously!) We thought this activity would take about a half hour, but were pleasantly surprised to find the kids made it take much longer! They were very creative even though all we had to work with was crayons, paper, glue, and sticks.
I learned how to sign the word "bandera" (flag).
Then began the opening ceremonies. We marched around the school yard with Juan Pablo leading the way, waving our flags and singing the Nicaraguan national anthem.
(L-R: Anita, Katherin, Jesus, Alberto, Xiomara, Orlando, and Elvis)
Played a few games...
...and finished off with handing out medals and having a little dance party. (L-R: Josseling, Amy, Melissa, Kevin)
All in all we had a lot of fun and I can't wait for this next week! The kids have really touched my heart in a special way, and I enjoy pouring out the love God has given me for them.
