Then the Pharisees went out and laid plans to trap him in his words.... "Teacher," they
said, "we know you are a man of integrity and that you teach the way of
God in accordance with the truth. You aren't swayed by men, because you
pay no attention to who they are. Tell us then, what is your opinion? Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not?" But Jesus, knowing their evil intent, said, "You hypocrites, why are you trying to trap me? Show me the coin used for paying the tax." They brought him a denarius, and he asked them, "Whose portrait is this? And whose inscription?" "Caesar's," they replied. Then he said to them, "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's." When they heard this, they were amazed. So they left him and went away. Matthew 22:15-22

Think about it. Giving *SOME* or *MOST* of a denarius was unacceptable, it was either all or nothing. Caesar could demand the denarius because he was the Caesar, not because he had done nice things for the Jews and protected them (in fact it was often quite the opposite). Technically, it already belonged to Caesar anyway.
Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness...."
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created
him....
Genesis 1:26-27

Have you ever put the two of those scriptures together? Think about it. Giving *SOME* or *MOST* of a yourself is unacceptable, it's either all or nothing.
God can demand your life because he is GOD, not because He has
done nice things for you or protected you. Technically, it already belongs to God anyway.

Who's portrait/image are you? and Whose inscription do you bear on your hearts? Then surrender completely to God what is God's. May I remember this as well. Amen.
