The jewelery making is taking off rather slowly but I'm sure once we get confirmation of our proposal from Opportunity International, things should fall into place a little faster. We did not end up having a meeting on Tuesday; it got delayed and so for the time being, we are waiting.
Corazon Contenta officially started on Monday and the kids have been hard at work. (Most of the time, anyway, like any school!) It's a lot of worksheets and repetition, and the kids don't have that great of an attention span to begin with, so it's definitely been growing my patience and theirs as well! Yet as frustrating as it is times to repeat "A-E-I-O-U" and "1-2-3-4-5" for 3 hours, the other day I was reminded that ministry is like that .. and so is life, if you think about it. Sometimes you don't see the impact you're making. Sometimes you feel like you're repeating the basics over and over and over again to people who may never learn. But that doesn't mean you stop serving and teaching.

Photo time! (That's me in the middle, if you have any questions...) Meet two of the girls from Corazon Contenta - Xiomara (13) and Josseling (8). These sisters are both deaf/mute; Xiomara can read lips somewhat and both girls know some form of sign language. Josseling especially has made me her buddy and can usually be found clinging to my hand or waist! Both girls are very intelligent and eager to learn, and it is sad to see that in the past their education has been pushed aside just because people don't know how to communicate well with them. I'll admit it is a challenge! Thursday morning I worked with Josseling on basic addition, and I don't know how well I was able to get the information across to her but I did my best.
I would love if I could have your prayers - I've been having a few rough days lately and I'm going to attribute it to another wave of culture shock. There are so many differences in the way people relate to each other here that I don't know if I will ever begin to understand. Misunderstandings in friendships can occur easily enough without adding a different language and set of values and background.
God is so awesome. If you have time, check out some of my other teammates' blogs for an idea of the other ministries happening with the team. You can get links to all their blogs through our team page - http://08mexicoawakening.myadventures.org/ Love you all!
