There is a team of 22 people coming down from the States to Granada for a week. They need a place to stay, and AIM is having them stay in the houses that my team is in right now. So... this means that I will be leaving on Saturday for a "spring break" of sorts (thus the early blog). Three other girls and I are headed to San Juan del Sur, on the Pacific coast of Nicaragua, to relax on the beach for a week. This is pretty nice timing as we're about at the halfway point for this semester - already.. yikes! - and I'm looking forward to the opportunity to recharge.
As I was thinking what to write in this blog I realized that nothing major had happened to me this week... but that doesn't mean it was a bad week. No, it just means that this has been a week of many small victories.
- I learned how to sign "good morning", "good afternoon", and "good evening" .
- Katherin recognizes the letters A, E, F, I, K, O, & U. Last week at this time, she only knew A, I, and U. (And I realize you haven't "met" her yet.. I'm still looking for more pictures.)
- Wednesday morning I didn't want to get out of bed, but I did anyway.
- Amy, Joann, Annie, and I led our second activity with the kids today so the leaders could have a meeting. None of the kids got sick or tried to run away.
- I had a conversation with some of the Nicaraguan guys about submission to authority/rules when you don't agree with them. A year ago, I would have never said some of what I was able to say to them. Praise God for how He changes people like me!
- God also led me to initiate a conversation with someone on my team that I did not want to have, and honestly it didn't go very "successfully" according to my standards. But the point is that I had the conversation anyway, and God is in charge of the results.
I was talking to my sister today and one of the things we talked about is wanting to make a "big" difference. I reminded her (and myself too) that when God is in them, the little things ARE the big things. It's called faithfulness. So this week I've been working on keeping both my attitude and perspective in the right place.
Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much,
and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with
much.
much.
